Ben Nye cake liner vs Bobbi Brown Gel liner

I normal always use Ben Nye cake eye liner in black when I'm doing make up on people, as its easy to use just add water and gives a natural line. You can put a few layers of the product on it get a deeper colour.

This time I decided to try out Bobbi Browns Gel eye liner in black ink this time. It glided onto the eye and gave a really intense glossy finish. Really intense colour which I wanted for the look I was working on.The only bad think about it was when I went to take the make up off my model and start on a new look, it took a long time to get off.
But after using this I don't think I would go back to the Ben Nye Cake liner. I just need to find a better eye make up remover! I'm looking forward to buying a  chocolate brown colour in this range.

Tokyo Girls Collection Tokyo Fashion Express

I watched Tokyo Fashion Express on Tuesday on NHK and it was all about Tokyo Girls collection fashion show. It looked amazing and so cute, so thought I would put a few photos up for you all. Tokyo Fashion Express it a great programme for inspiration.

Pink wig, Creative Make up

I had a bit of time to play with so I cut up a old pink wig into a blunt bob and designed a make up look around it.
For the base I used Bobbi Brown moisture rich foundation mixed with Make Up For Ever Aquarelle 21 to give a high shine to the base.
For the pink eye shadow I used True Colors Eastside pink, Base eye shadow Mac pigment in quick frost Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner.

Models Own Smash Up nail Effects

I recently bought models Own Smash Up polish in Purple and Models Own Mystic Mauve from Boots.

I first used a clear base coat, then two layers of the Mystic Mauve and them the smashed up Purple. I also applied Sally Hansen Top coat on top. Here are the results I got.

The Smash Effects went on more smoothly then the Barry M version does, the brush was also easy to use. The purple gave a lovely metiallic finish which you can probably see in the photo.

The only bad thing about this product was that it didn't last that long. After four days it started chipping see photo below.

If you want a product that's cheap with fashionably colours I would recommend this.

Make up for Secrets video

I got to do some make up for a short independent film last month, tilted Secrets. It was a project that WYFIN had set up, which I volunteered my make up skills for. The project involed working with small groups of people with different skills.

The make up for the first scene was a fresh clean look with a slight sheen to the base. For last scene I chose to do black winged eye liner that suited the actors vintage style dress. Also for this film I couldn't use eye shadow as the model was allergic to it, so I had to think of ways of getting around this. I ended up using Mac strobe cream on the eyes to give a soft sheen to them.

Individual False Lashes

It was a rainy day outside so I thought I would play with my false eye lash collection. Recently I have been looking into Shibuya make up and they all use fasle lashes on the top and bottom of their eyes.

I bought lashes to go on the bottom last year in Japan but have been looking for some more that aren't quite so natural looking. So I decided to create my own with some extra oomph as a experiment.

These are the brand of individual lash I used if your interested; I bought them a while ago but you can buy individual lashes from most stores like Boots etc. I stuck three on to my bottom lash line, where there were natural gaps. When the glue dried I trimmed them down to match the length of my other lashes.

And this is how it turned out. Not bad if you haven't got a bottom lash to hand.
You may have guessed I also put a lash on my top right lid and left the other eye without so you could see the difference. Sorry about the lacking of styling of my hair, I was feeling lazy today :)

These are the lashes I used on my top lid, there from a shop called Bodyline in Japan.

The eylure false glue wasn't easy to use, I found it slid of my lashes and took ages to dry. I used to use a Ruby and Millie lash glue which was much better, but I can't seem to buy it any more, so I'm on the hunt to find a new favourite. (If you have a recommendation I'd love to hear it in the comments!)

Zombie Practice make up

I just ordered some Kryolan liquid latex, gelatine, Kryolan zombie tooth rot and Ben Nye wax from Screen Face. Here's the link to them  http://www.screenface.co.uk found them really easy to order from and it arrived really quickly to.
I tried doing some zombie make up with my new kit and here is some of the results I got.

On the forehead I used latex and cotton wool, then ripped holes into when it dried and coloured it. Here is a close up of it.

 On the chin/ cheek I used latex and tissue, I quite like the result it gave, but might try more layers of latex next time.

The gelatine wound was a more natural colour than the results you get from making gelatine up at home. I still think it needs work, but thought I show you how it turned out any way. The gelatine smelled like baby powder. But at least it has a nicer smell then the home made stuff!

I will put some more posts up when I've played with the Ben Nye wax.
