Candy Nails with white tips

I was feeling a bit bored of the dark long winter. So I decided to go for cheerful simple candy coloured nails.

Below are the products I used to create this nail design.

• First I used a base coat to protect my nails.
• Next I painted my nails with two coats of Model's Own Lilac Dream and Illamasqua's Caress on every other nail.
• I used the brush in the Model's Own nail art pen in white to draw the lines on the tips of the nails.
• I then finished with a top coat to help the nails to last longer.

MUA Caviar nails review

I have tried using the Ciate Cavier nails which come in lovely colours but the beads do not stay on long and are quite expensive. When shopping ion Superdrug I saw this cheaper version by MUA at only £3 a pot. I thought great a bargain and worth a try out.

I used Illamasqua's Nail polish in caress as the base and then poured the cavier beads onto the nail. the first thing I had problems with was opening the lid. When pouring the beads I used the try that came with the Ciate set to catch the beads that fell off. 

All the Cavier beads seemed to stick ok, I pressed them on as the instructions said to do so. And finished with a clear top coat.

To pour the caviar beads from the tray back into the pot I used the funnel from the Ciate set. 

This is what the nails looked like after one day.

As you can see all the beads are coming off from around the edges, which is a bit annoying as I really like the effect they gave.

The MUA beads are great for a night out or special occasion. The Ciate Caviar nails do last longer but cost £18 which does include a nail varnish. I will put a review up of the Ciate Caviar nails soon.

Dotty Toe Nails

Not been doing many blog posts recently, as I have been decorating my bedroom. Which also means any nail varnish I put on my hands comes off straight away. So this is way I decided to use me new nail dotting brush on my toes.

I got this set from Top Shop, there are quite a allot of brushes to try in this pack not bad price either at £7. First I tried out the metal dotting tool. And this is the result.

I first used a base coat, then the first two Models' Own nail varnishes(in the below picture) on every other toe.            

I then put the metal ball shaped brush into the No7 dark purple and placed the dots on the nails, being careful to leave space for the white dots.

Then repeating this for the white dots.

This tool made it allot easier to get the dots the same size and shape, the only thing to watch out for is not getting to much varnish on the tool. As this makes the dots look messy.

   

I went shopping to the Leeds at the weekend and manged to buy lots of amazing bargains in the Illamasqua sale. Below is a picture of what I bought. Each item only cost £5 each. So if you get a chance I would check it out, they have some lovely colours.

New Year make up and Christmas Nails

I hope everyone had a good Christmas eating lots and opening presents.

 Over the last month I have not been able to wear my contact lenses and have had to wear my glasses. I found it allot harder to create party make up, which I took on as a challenge  Any way here if one of my make up looks with glasses.

I wanted to keep the colour scheme of my glasses so I chose a pinky red colour for the eye shadow. I then used false eyelashes that had a strong curl. 

For my nails over Christmas I kept to a red for the base and used a gold crackle by OPI on top of the red.
I also create candy cane nails using the same red for the base and painting on white diagonal lines. i forgot to take a photo of this through.

Illamasqua Leeds Beauty Drop In

On Sunday at the Illamasqua store in Leeds there were running a free beauty drop in. I went to see the Very Berry Christmas Make up.

The Leeds store is quite small and then you go upstairs for the session. It was very busy I had to stand at the back, but I still got a really good view as it was a very small room.

It was amazing how many different ways their medium pencils could be used. On the above make up the  artist showed it blended into the socket line of the eye. Used it to contour the cheeks and also to outline the lips. I liked the idea of their pencils so much I bought one to try out. 

Another really interesting part was the eyebrow work they did. The artist filled in the eyebrow and then highlighted the area around it with a light concealer. It was incredible how much of a difference this made.

The artist explained why Illamasqua do not use SPF in their foundations. The reason for this is that it reflects too more under lights when take high definition photos.

I hope they run more beauty drop in sessions in the future.

An Cafe at London - My Nails and make up

On 7th November I traveled to London to see An Cafe play at the O2 Islington. I had forgotten how organised you have to be when trying to pack light. Below is the make up I chose to take with me.

I know not much make up there right!

Above is the nail design I went with. I chose to go with blue as the tour was for the album Amazing Blue. The Grey base under the stripes was by Mavala, the blue glitter OPI and the white  lines Model's Own Nail art pen.

 

This photo isn't very good of my make up as I only had my phone camera. I used false lashes on my bottom and top lashes for a stronger look. The hotel  room was painted orange which didn't help either with the lighting.

My top is from a Japanese brand called Putumayo.

An Cafe were really good live, so happy and the band members looked so cute.

I went shopping in London and made it to Charles Fox and Screen Face, below is what I bought.

I got some eyebrow wax, so hopefully I can use these to block out eyebrows. I could have spent loads in those shops so much make up to chose from. SFX, body paint, glitter, brushes, eyelashes, eyeshawdows bags e.t.c

Curly Bun Hair Piece Review

I order two hair pieces off Ebay from amashop2010. I have never ordered from this shop before. The ordering was easy and it arrived within 2 weeks. The product its self is good quality and not to shiny, as some cheap wigs are very shiny.
The hair piece I tried out today is pictured below. It was £11 with free posted.

This hair piece can be wrapped up as a curl bun and as a ponytail, the colour it mixed brown by Clair Beauty.

Here is an close of the bun for you to see the colours of the hair piece. This is a really quick way to have a stylish bun and to dress it up more add hair accessories such as bows, flowers etc.

Below if a different make up look I have been trying with dark lips. I used a lip liner all over the lips to give a long lasting matte look. It's amazing how different the face looks with darker lips than eyes. I think it makes me look older, maybe its having my hair up as well.
